LEARN MORE ABOUT THE NKWO TRANSFORM PROJECT
Together with my amazing team of 8, I'm proud to have delivered the impactful NKWO art installation at Soho House, NY. The NKWO art installation at Soho House, NY showcased incredible pieces by NKWO using the dakala fabric, highlighting the brands key focus areas of textile waste reduction, traditional craft skill preservation, environmental conservation, and innovation. The augmented reality experience aimed to decrease textile waste while providing an inclusive try-on experience for visitors globally. The film documentary offered a visual alignment from NKWO's storytelling perspective, showcasing the day in the life of the women who create the pieces. The wall of hope allowed visitors to write inspiring messages, mimicking a board at NKWO's transformation center in Abuja. The collectible handbags designed from recycled textiles made by the women at the center - sales proceeds went back to 10 vulnerable women from an Internally Displaced Persons camp in Abuja who are taught craft skills to produce NKWO products. Finally,I ensured having live music that complemented the art on display, aiming to create a dynamic and immersive experience for all attendees. The carefully selected DJs brought their unique styles and expertise to ensure that the music resonated with the art and enhanced the overall ambiance.
The project had a significant impact, with a sold-out art installation show, proceeds from sales to vulnerable women, and almost a million uses on the augmented reality experience. My future aspirations are to continue this work with more African women-owned businesses, upskill the women to improve access to education, and support fellow Nigerians. This project is a testament to my commitment to pushing the boundaries of the sustainable fashion world while championing inclusivity and empowering vulnerable women.

Anga Haus presents Black Art Weekend: A vibrant art experience showcasing diverse storytelling through the works of Black artists.
Narration is an exhibition that explores the ideas of storytelling as a branch of contemporary art practice, curated by Ibiye Anga. The exhibit features artists based across the globe, intentionally playing on the overarching theme of “all kinds of black” For Narration, the artworks take shape as sculpture, audio installation, and painting. The artists allow the process to shape the result and set expectations by deliberately organizing materials. Indicatively, the exhibition offers novel ways of thinking through ideas of intersectionality, identity, positionality, and personality.
